This is something I threw together out of my parts box. I wondered what it would look like and thought it might be cool for my off beat railroad.

I started with an Atlas Alco 420 body, but it didn't have hand rails, so I used some Athearn stanchions and brass wire to make them, the coupler levers, and grab irons.

I also cut the sun shades from brass. I don't really like to mount the sunshades so that they hinge, but it keeps them from being broken off when I handle the loco.

Here it is all painted up. I think it turned out pretty good, but I still have to shoot the flat finish, weather it, and add the window glazing. I still have a few more details I'll add too. I also have to paint the handrails white in places and I plan to install LED lighting.

Nice work.
Was if difficult to fit the shell on the frame or was it a drop on fit?

Definately not a drop in, but it only required some minor surgery to the shell and frame. Mainly, I had to cut the corners off the frame to allow room for the steps. I built up the couple mounts and just tried to line everything up.

Thanks very much IronGoat. I have a few more of these shells, so I am y use Ray's brass frame building technique for the next one or two. I would really like to have a few more of these.

I have some other photos of MoPac locos and cabeese that I will put up soon. I am glad I took photos as I built this stuff. Never knew for sure if I would ever do anything with them.

BTW, the razorback herald on the side is from Oddball's caboose set for MoPac cabeese. I had a bunch of these and this was actually the inspiration for my ArPac railroad.
