I and a friend have noticed an increase in freight traffic. A fellow in our local train club is retired, drives a school bus during school time and has a mobile hot dog stand on the double track CSX mainline in West Springfield MA. Great train watching area. He is about 20 feet from the nearest track and a street crossing.
When a long freight is being made up in the yard nearby, locos sit right in front of his location. About three or four weeks ago a five loco freight pulling almost eighty cars for transporting motor vehicles was being made up. Sure blocked the crossing. We had some unusual warm days so he was open.
This summer, I will take a portable chair and go there for lunch. I have stopped a few times this summer but I am making plans now. Just got a new video camera and will make some videos.
This is a short ways from the location of the Big E train show the end of this month.
